Level of Commitment to Extra- Curricular, & Daily Physical Activity
Being a gymnast, you have to really commit yourself to train, to show up at the gym for a little bit more than 14 hours a week. They say gymnasts are some of the best athletes in the world, because we not only have to have physical strength but mental strength as well. It takes a crazy amount of courage to be flipping your own body weight in the air repeatedly. Even though I do PE every other day, I mostly benefit from training at the gym. To be the best athlete I can be, I have to keep track of what I'm eating, and avoid eating unhealthy as much as I can, even though I cheat occasionally. I'm always pushing myself to to the best of my ability. We do drills at gym, and they help me clean my routines and to learn new skills. We also do a lot of exercises to improve my flexibility, stamina and strength. I've been working on my back hand springs, trying to get them on the high beam, which is really scary, because I hurt my back, and wasn't able to do them for a while. I used be able to do them on high beam, and connect them, but after my injury, it's like starting from the very beginning. I really enjoy doing PE at school because it helps me build my stamina and gives me extra time to work on my fitness level.
